I want to design my own furniture setting, can Coastal Design help?
What is the furniture made of?
Coastal Design's signature rattan outdoor furniture is made using a unique natural-look fibre made of durable polyethylene (also commonly referred to as synthetic rattan or PE rattan).
We use trusted suppliers who also supply resorts and hotels throughout Europe, Asia and the Pacific. Polyethylene rattan is environmentally friendly and recyclable. Each piece of furniture is hand-woven onto powder-coated non-rust aluminium frames. It's also specially designed with protectors for UV, oxidation, heat, humidity, mould and mildew; PE Rattan is highly durable, resistant to splintering, cracking, peeling and corrosion. Very versatile for the Kiwi outdoors!
Our outdoor furniture is built to a high specification so not only does it look great, it is built to last. With a minimal amount of regular maintenance you will enjoy your furniture for many years to come.
Fabric and cushions:
Coastal Design offers a range of squabs. The primary fabric used is the world-renown Sunbrella® range of outdoor fabrics which is solution dyed then woven, retaining color and vibrancy for years.
Sunbrella® stays cool, it is soft and comfortable, easy-care, and resists stains, mildew, fading, and abrasions. The fabric is commonly found on yachts and boats. Primarily designed for outdoor use, and together with top grade fast-dry foam inners, the squabs provide the ultimate in comfort and durability for use on outdoor furniture.
We recommend that when not in use, storing cushion squabs under-cover to avoid continual wet or damp conditions will prolong the life and look of your furniture squabs.
(We also recommend our exclusive Cushion Storage Boxes!)

Caring for your furniture:
No more weekends spent re-staining wooden furniture, only to see it fade again after a few months in the sun! Our furniture is easily maintained by wiping with a damp cloth (or a soft brush to loosen any trapped build up of dirt) every couple of months. This is usually all that is required to keep the furniture in good condition.
Coastal Design has also launched its own range of exclusive Cushion Storage Boxes to match the outdoor rattan range, these are fully weatherproof and double as an ottoman or table! Additionally custom-made covers made exclusively by our local upholsterer can be purchased in a range of colours and designed specifically to protect your furniture from the elements for years to come.

Sunbrella® cushion squabs: (Palm Beach & Miro ranges)
The durability that makes Sunbrella® ideal for the great outdoors will give you peace of mind on your indoor furniture. Best of all, Sunbrella® is now available in the rich colors, luscious textures, exquisite patterns and soft hand that you love on your indoor furniture. Indoors or out, Sunbrella® has you covered.
Sunbrella® fabrics are very durable. Sunbrella® is the result of over 45 years of ongoing research and development. Sunbrella's UV-resistant color pigments are fully blended into its high performance fiber. Sunbrella® fabric's strength and color refuses to fade even under the harshest conditions, while retaining the softness of spun cotton. For more details see www.sunbrella.com
Because Sunbrella® furniture fabrics are designed to be breathable, they are water repellent, but not completely waterproof. Over time, the water repellency can be refreshed by using 303 High Tech Fabric Guard™.
How often do I need to thoroughly clean Sunbrella? The best way to keep Sunbrella® brand fabrics looking good is to simply clean them as needed. Rinse off dust and dirt, wipe spills as soon as they occur or spot clean soon after stains occur. Occasional rainfall will help keep your outdoor furniture clean. Removable cushion covers may be machine-washed in cold water with mild laundry soap and air-dried. For more stubborn stains, Sunbrella® fabrics are bleach cleanable.
Mildew should not grow on Sunbrella® unless there is food, dirt or other organic matter on the fabric. Keeping Sunbrella® clean is the best defense against mildew. Bleach and other mildew removers do not affect Sunbrella, so cleaning mildew is easy if it becomes necessary.
Sunbrella® fabrics do not absorb water and are designed to air-dry very quickly - usually within a matter of minutes. A clothes dryer is not necessary, and will often overheat and shrink the fabric.
One of the best ways to keep Sunbrella® brand fabrics looking good and to delay deep or vigorous cleanings is to properly maintain the fabrics. This can be accomplished by simply brushing off dirt before it becomes imbedded in the fabrics, wiping up spills as soon as they occur or spot cleaning soon after stains occur.
For Removable Cushion Covers and Slipcovers:

For Stubborn Stains and/or Mildew
Sunbrella® fabric does not promote mildew growth, however, mildew may grow on dirt and other foreign substances that are not removed from the fabric.

- Soak affected area in solution for 15 minutes.
- Remove stain with a sponge, clean towel or very soft bristle brush until all soap residue is removed.
- Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.

*If stain and/or mildew are severe, bleach quantities may be increased. See the Sunbrella® Stain Chart for removal of specific stains. Re-treating the fabric - for ease of cleaning: Sunbrella® fabrics have a special finish that enhances water repellency. The finish is designed to last for several years of normal use, but may be refreshed with 303 High Tech Fabric Guard™, the preferred retreatment product for Sunbrella® fabrics.
